REConnect & REStore: A Healing in Community Series offered by St. Peter & St. Mary

AS HUMANS, WE HEAL IN COMMUNITY.

Take part in this community wellness series provided by the Episcopal Church of St. Peter & St. Mary! Humans were not meant to go it alone. We seek to provide an offering for healing and community in our neighborhood that includes practices that connect us to each other.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Saturday, April 27th, 10:00am-1:00pm | $10 per person

Are you interested in deepening your prayer life, but find meditation difficult? Learn a visual way to pray with words (lectio divina – divine reading) and images (visio divina – divine seeing) together.

This Lectio-Visio Divina exercise, hosted by St. Peter & Mary’s own Julie Henkene, will use abstract monoprint images together with words of spiritual wisdom from women across the ages. Moving through four movements, we will extend from active reading/gazing to reflecting on a personal connection to responding with heart-centered prayer to resting in contemplation. No previous meditation experience is required.

$10/person includes: all your supplies + light snacks/refreshments.
You can register here.

GREENING GRACE IN OUR LIVES: AN ART MEDITATION WITH ARTIST & THEOLOGIAN, ANGELA HUMMEL

September 16, 2023

What are your ideas of grace? What were you taught about sin and grace? Oftentimes people who grew up Christian grow up learning ideas of sin and grace that have been harmful and stifling to them and those they love. Through color and paint, we will learn to look at sin and grace in new ways, ways that will hopefully help us live life more abundantly.

Angela Hummel is an interdisciplinary artist and art theologian who uses creative expression to explore ideas about God and spirituality in new ways. Angela has an MFA in creative writing, an MA in Theology, over 15 years of experience in ministry, and is pursuing her doctorate at Iliff school of Theology where she is working on her Art Theology project. Angela is able to lead us in this workshop together through a generous grant from The Episcopal Church.
